RUND UM ZSCHOPAU – ENDURO GP 2020

A milestone of global Enduro is returning to EnduroGP in the 2020 season.

The Rund um Zschopau has taken place in the homonymous town to determine the German national champion ever since 1954.
Many foreign riders have had the honour to participate in the race that was on the calendar of the World Championship already three times, in 1990, 2004, and, most recently, in 2017. The FIM ISDE, the team world championship, arrived here for the third and fourth day of the 2012 edition. Some information on this famous little Saxon town is useful for anyone wishing to take part in this great celebration of Enduro.

This year the Enduro World Championship will be back in Zschopau for the last round of 2020.

With a population of less than 10.000 and 95 kilometres from the nearest city, Dresden, Zschopau is known as the motorcycle city in Germany, particularly because both DKW and MZ were born there: they live for the two wheels here and it’s not by chance that the EnduroGP of Germany will take place here. The MSC Rund um Zschopau and the ADAC, in collaboration with the Federation and EnduroGP, will organise an event that will be a top-level competition and enable both riders and fans to immerse themselves in an unmatched atmosphere from Friday through Sunday.

This is where the two-stroke engine was born. In an exhibition at the Wildeck castle, you will be able to see actual pieces of motorcycling history that contributed not only to the creation of today’s bikes, but also ensured that the little Eastern German town left an indelible mark on the history of our sport.

Although Zschopau and motors go hand in hand, you shouldn’t make the mistake of thinking that there isn’t anything else to see: the town’s medieval centre with its surviving city walls from 1495 is a historical monument. The majority of historical buildings, like for example the church of Saint Martin and many townhouses all across town, are from the eighteenth century. Many have been reconstructed after numerous fires affected the residential areas.
This was a mining region and visitors can participate in tours that explore the extraction of minerals at the mine of the Holy Trinity, which was restored and opened to visitors in 1992.

If you want to relax after a long and definitely intense day, you can immerse yourself in nature, go on walks and bicycle tours of various lengths, and get lost in the wonderful gardens of the castle or the “An den Anlagen” park.

It won’t be difficult to find accommodation but we advise you to do it as soon as possible. All you need to do is go on the website www.zschopau.de or contact the tourist information directly either calling the number +49 3725 287287 or emailing info@zschopau‐info.de .

Apart from the motorways, there are several airports close to Zschopau for whoever might need them: apart from the already mentioned Dresden, it’s possible to fly to Berlin, Leipzig or even Prague.
More information on the competition both for participants and fans will soon be published on the EnduroGP website and on the event’s official website at enduro-zschopau.de.

Stay tuned.
