In addition to the FIM Borilli EnduroGP World Championship, this weekend will also be the setting for the final of the Champion Lubricants Enduro Open World Cup! With this very special season, all results count and two out of the three categories will remain undecided until the last special tests…
The Open 2-Stroke class is likely to be the most predictable of the three categories as Gonçalo REIS (P – KTM) is only a few points short of winning the World Cup for the second year in a row. But nothing is certain until the end and Gonçalo SOBROSA (P – Beta) and Robert FRIEDRICH (CZ – KTM) still have hopes of bringing down the talented Portuguese rider. The battle for the remaining places in the Top 5 could be close between Ricardo WILSON (P – Beta), Arvid MODIN (S – Yamaha) and Frederico ROCHA (P – Husqvarna).
Can PAOLI Take The Open Senior Title?
In Open 4-Stroke, it is still neck and neck between the two Belgian riders Mathias VAN HOOF (Husqvarna) and Damiaens DIEGTER (KTM): 111 points each! The tension will therefore be at its height this weekend in Marco de Canaveses to know who will succeed Tom ELLWOOD (GB – Kawasaki) as 4-Stroke champion! Behind them Jorge PARADELO RODRIGUEZ (E – KTM) will still have to remain vigilant and see off the attacks of Andrea BELOTTI (I – KTM) and Mika VANDERHEYDEN (B – Husqvarna) in order to secure third place overall.
Finally, on the Open Senior side, we also find equal standings at the top of the provisional since Duccio GRAZINI (I – Beta) and David MARTINEZ CORBALAN (E – KTM) are both on 99 points! But it’s not just between these two, since Alessio PAOLI (I – Husqvarna) has dominated the class since the Italian GP. The former EnduroGP rider has been unbeaten since Spoleto and is just 19 points from the two leaders. While the task may not be easy, it is by no means impossible. For their part, Patrik ANDERSSON (S – Yamaha) and Carlos MARSET (E – Sherco) will seek to secure their place among the 5 best riders in the Senior class!
The final weekend of the year promises to be full of suspense in the Open 4-Stroke and Senior, while we should also see the crowning of Gonçalo REIS at home in Portugal on Saturday in the Open 2-Stroke class! In any case, this round will be worth its weight in gold until the very last special!
