MCCANNEY Takes Control!

The traditional Portugal – Spain ‘Iberian tour’ brought lots of surprises and two very different Champion Endure Tests. So it’s time for us to catch up with the standings in the Mika Ahola “Brave One” Trophy where there too, there’s a change of leadership…

Steve HOLCOMBE (GB – Beta) was on from after a double win in Germany, and many said that he could be on for another year of domination in the trophy…
Unfortunately for the Brit, a virus has been affecting him since just after the opening round and HOLCOMBE struggled with fatigue on these long and tricky tests which were more than 10 minutes long!
Despite this, the quadruple World Champion limited the damage (with results as follows: 1/5/3/5) but he conceded the overall lead to Danny MCCANNEY (GB – TM). Ultra consistent since the beginning of the season, the factory TM rider took his first victory last weekend in Spain in addition to three 2nd places.

HOLCOMBE also had to wave goodbye to second position overall after Brad FREEMAN (GB – Beta) stormed the Iberian tour with excellent results.
Alex SALVINI (I – Honda), solid during these two weekends (3/4/5/4), and the current leader of the Junior class, Andrea VERONA (I – TM), complete the Top 5 in the Mika Ahola “Brave One” Trophy standings!
Note that the Top 10 is dominated by the Italians with no fewer than 5 of them filling the standings against 3 Brits, 1 Frenchman and 1 Finn.

This Iberian tour has given us a new leader in the form of MCCANNEY but it’s still all to play for as there are only 8 points difference between him, FREEMAN and HOLCOMBE. The next back-to-back races in Greece and Italy will offer no let up in this year’s Mika Ahola “Brave One” Trophy which remains highly prized among the stars of EnduroGP!

Provisional Classification: 1. Danny MCCANNEY 105pts ; 2. Brad FREEMAN 98pts; 3. Steve HOLCOMBE 97pts; 4. Alex SALVINI 64pts; 5. Andrea VERONA 47pts; 6. Giacomo REDONDI 46pts; 7. Loïc LARRIEU 44pts; 8. Davide GUARNERI 40pts; 8. Matteo CAVALLO 40pts; 10. Eero REMES 38pts…
