On the occasion of the Acerbis Grand Prix of Italy, held in Edolo last weekend, the stars of EnduroGP were able to shine; showing their technique and improvisation skills in a typically Italian Enduro Test with small stones and roots…
The type of test in which the late Mika AHOLA would have had an advantage and pushed for victory.
OLDRATI & CAVALLO Stand Out…
Steve HOLCOMBE (GB – Beta) is becoming more and more a worthy successors of the Finnish five-time World Champion. The factory Beta rider seems to have found the edge in Enduro Tests, and he leaves Edolo with two victories in the Mika Ahola “Brave One” Trophy… He now has a 35 point advantage in the trophy standings, with two rounds left to go.
Behind HOLCOMBE, it is his compatriot Brad FREEMAN (GB – Beta Boano) who put in the next best performance (2/2) and with this he returned to third place in the classification…
There were impressive performances from Italians Thomas OLDRATI (I – Honda RedMoto), 7th and 3rd, and Matteo CAVALLO (I – Beta Boano), 6th and 4th. While Alex SALVINI (I – Husqvarna) had to be satisfied with 5th place on Sunday, and Christophe NAMBOTIN (F – Gas Gas) and Eero REMES (SF – TM) were also knocking on the door.
A special mention also to 125cc Youth rider, Hamish MACDONALD (NZ – Sherco), who registered 15th place in the trophy on Sunday.
With a fourth straight win in the Mika Ahola “Brave One” Trophy, HOLCOMBE seems that he’ll be able to keep the winner belt for a second consecutive year, which has never happened in the history of this trophy…
But to achieve this, he will have to once again put on a great performance on the Enduro Test at the French Grand Prix in Methamis on 22 and 23 September.
Provisional Classification: 1. Steve HOLCOMBE 153pts ; 2. Alex SALVINI 118pts ; 3. Brad FREEMAN 103pts ; 4. Jamie MCCANNEY 99pts; 5. Loïc LARRIEU 87pts; 6. Eero REMES 82pts; 7. Christophe NAMBOTIN 71pts; 8. Matteo CAVALLO 69pts; 9. Danny MCCANNEY 58pts; 10. Thomas OLDRATI 57pts…
