CAVALLO’s Quick !

Despite the rain, there were many Italian tifosi (fans) around the Akrapovic Super Test this evening, and they were not disappointed with the spectacle offered by the 84 riders entered into this Acerbis Grand Prix of Italy…

And it was indeed an Italian who won the first special of the weekend… but not Alex SALVINI (I – Husqvarna) as many expected as he has already won three times since the beginning of the season, but instead it was the provisional leader of the Junior category Matteo CAVALLO (I – Beta Boano)!
The Boano rider took full advantage of lighter rain and a less “cut up” test to fire up the timesheets with a 1’48”00, after a magnificent duel with Andrea VERONA (I – TM) who set a 1’49’26.
Behind CAVALLO, his teammate Brad FREEMAN (I – Beta Boano) took the second fastest time with 1’49”03, in front of another Brit, Danny MCCANNEY (GB – Gas Gas), 1’49”10.

In the Youth 125cc class, it was Ruy BARBOSA (CL – Husqvarna) who won in front of Dan MUNDELL (GB – Sherco) and the Finn Hugo SVARD (SF – Husqvarna).

Alex SALVINI (I – Husqvarna) still leads the standings in the Akrapovic Super Test Award standings and is 4 points clear of HOLCOMBE and FREEMAN, while NAMBOTIN and MCCANNEY are coming back strong, now 8 points behind “Rocky”.

With one more Akrapovic Super Test to be held at the season finale in Germany, it’s still all to play for and there are 5 riders who can claim the cheeque for 1,500 euros offered by the prestigious exhaust brand… see you on October 13 in Rüdersdorf for the very last Super Test of the season!

Provisional Classification: 1. Alex SALVINI 31pts ; 2. Steve HOLCOMBE 27pts ; 3. Brad FREEMAN 27pts ; 4. Christophe NAMBOTIN 23pts ; 5. Danny MCCANNEY 23pts ; 6. Thomas OLDRATI 21pts ; 7. Loïc LARRIEU 17pts ; 8. Mathias BELLINO 17pts ; 9. Jamie MCCANNEY 13pts ; 10. Matteo CAVALLO 10pts…
