24MX Leader Plates: WEBB & GALLAS Finish the Job!

The final round of the 2018 SEWC, which took place in Lidköping, Sweden, provided another thrilling night of action after a whole season of excellent racing. While Kevin GALLAS (D – Husqvarna) took the Junior crown in the first race of the night, it was not the same story for Cody WEBB (USA – KTM) in Prestige…

Indeed, the Californian was 17 points ahead of Taddy BLAZUSIAK (PL – KTM) when he arrived at the Sparbanken Arena in Lidköping. But in the first race, the “Polish Nightmare” put pressure on the factory KTM USA rider and closed the gap to just 8 points. 24MX Leader since Round 2 in Germany, WEBB felt uncomfortable en route to the title with the stress of wanting to become World Champion. But “CW2” still took the coveted crown of Prestige class World Champion in the second race by finishing 3rd, and taking advantage of the rear suspension failure and DNF of his rival. With WEBB crowned, it was Billy BOLT (GB – Husqvarna) who went on to take the Vice-Champion position, just one point in front of BLAZUSIAK, thanks to the Brit’s brilliant first overall GP victory!

In the Junior class, the evening was much easier for the 24MX Leader Kevin GALLAS; the German only needed to collect 4 points to be titled. Taking another hat-trick on the night meant he got 12 wins out of 15 possible overall, and the Husqvarna rider won the 2018 Junior World Championship, succeeding South Africa’s Blake GUTZEIT (Yamaha). Behind GALLAS, it was the Polish star Emil JUSZCZAK (KTM) who became Vice-World Champion, while Diego HERRERA (CL – TM) completed the top three.

This season gave us crazy intensity, twists, turns, thrills and spills at every Grand Prix. Despite this challenging calendar, the long-term 24MX Leaders WEBB and GALLAS got the job done…

So meet us again on December 8, 2018 at the Tauron Arena in Krakow (Poland) for the start of another incredible season where WEBB will have to fight hard to retain his crown, and GALLAS will come to rub shoulders with the top riders in the Prestige category!
