On Saturday, Barragán’s times already hinted at the enormous hidden potential of the new enduro from the Girona factory. The rider from Madrid climbed onto the top step of the E2 podium, achieving the fifth fastest time of the first day after a session in which less became more.
A optimistic start for the new Gas Gas EC 250 Racing that, just one day later on Sunday, got its first Scratch win ridden by a superb Jonathan Barragan when the ground was at its most churned up.
A dream come true getting Jonathan Barragan a second place in the E2 classification and the fourth position in the fight for the Scratch after racing in one of the classic and most demanding races in the Spanish National Enduro Championship, the Enduro del Segre, which this year was in its thirty-eighth edition.
The next round of the Spanish Enduro Championship will be held in Valdecaballeros, the weekend of 1st and 2nd April, although prior to this, the Gas Gas Factory Team will be fixing its gaze on the GP of Finland and in particular in Lake Paijanne, where the new EC 250 Racing will debut in international competition on 25th and 26th March.
Jonathan Barragan: “We are ecstatic about this first Scratch victory with the new bike. On the first day we knew we had a good enough pace to stay ahead, because our times in the second and third times round were very good. We cannot really ask for more. It’s been an amazing debut! The time before the start of the season was difficult for us because we knew we were arriving a little late with the new enduro and we were running out of time, we were late but we did the job well, as we intended. From now on we must continue working in this direction, although we still have a long season ahead. It has been a fantastic start and we are very happy with this bike and the team, this is a shared victory with them and with the entire factory because behind this new Gas Gas EC 250 Racing there is the effort and work of many people and of a whole factory which we are proud of. “
